People usually come to us for one of two reasons; either they have a dispute which needs resolving or they have been threatened or served. Our Civil litigation team are specialists in the resolution of disputes between private individuals, corporate or other legal entities such as charitable trusts or incorporated societies. While the process can involve court action our first approach is always to attempt to resolve issues for our clients before a dispute escalates to the level of the Courts.
“Whatever your difficulty our first step is to sit down with you and hear your story, give you an assessment of the merits and respond with the appropriate communication.”
The step towards a resolution of any dispute is by direct communication. At other times alternate forms of dispute resolution including mediation, round table meetings, judicial settlement conferences, conciliation and arbitration will be appropriate because they may provide quicker, less expensive and less stressful means of resolving disputes.
If these forms of resolution are not appropriate we have the skills and experience to represent our clients at all levels of the Court system. If you have been served with proceedings, you will need to respond by a certain date. Failure to respond by that date may mean that the court may not hear your arguments.
Whatever your difficulty our first step is to sit down with you and hear your story, give you an assessment of the merits and respond with the appropriate communication. We give you advice on the proper steps and collaborate with you as to how you wish to proceed. We’ll talk with you about your options and are keenly aware of stress and sensitivity associated with being involved in legal proceedings. We communicate with you to ensure that you understand and feel as comfortable as possible in the process.
For routine civil matters such as debt collection we have standardised processes which are as quick and cost effective as the Court system allows. We also support our clients in specialist Courts and Tribunals such as the Employment Court, Family Court, the Human Rights Review Tribunal, the Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal and others.
